We should never forget the two periods of plastic soldierhood. One of them was for kids ;the 60's to the seventies , then after there came the period of which we are still in when the plastic soldier evolved and was made for adults. Here is a wonderful set created by Atlantic with the child in mind. The piece was a working kit of firepower for the carpet floor.

THE GENERALE"
The 60's centenary of Garibaldi was marked by a very interesting set of the Italian wars of Unification.
Red shirts, Neopolitans and Austrians were produced in a PVC like plastic by Xiloplasto. This is really something worth having also for investment because at the present time the soldiers are quite cheap. Garibaldi was the greatest general maybe of all time and Xiloplasto were the only ones I think to honour his name (to be continued). Garibaldi came to London and at Trafalquar Square got twice the amount that turned out for the Queen. She was not amused.

PLASTIC TOY SOLDIER FROM XILOPLASTO
XILOPLASTO
Xiloplasto were into the Italian market and they pursued Italian subjects which was commercially a grave marketing mistake. The pieces were not very good but ugly enough to be always known for what they are thus they are now the new collectors rage. Here is a modernish Alpino from the 60's. The usual ACW was also explored and here is a good piece of a Reb captain with sabre advancing

XILOPLASTO
Xiloplasto produced the rarest subject of all for a special centenary of Garibaldi. This was sets of Garibaldian infantry and cavalry plus Austrians and Neopolitans. All donbe in plastic...well PVC. Theyt did cavalry as well plus Nino Bixioo.Follow the blog we'll keep you informed. They were one of many Italian soldier firms that tried to get on the Atlantic wagon. Before leaving please click all ads.Its free but helps me do this.
ITALIAN PLASTICS OF DULCOP
DUlcop and a couple of other Italian toy soldier firms are still in business but they have diversified into other products. I think Dulcop if they got decent box art could still do really well in the market but the heart seems to have gone out of them.
